Class of 60 Reunion

While attending my 50 year reunion , I had a chance to go out to the house that I lived in from the time I was 3 years old. This is a location toward the front of the house where our garden used to be.. We never had a fence around the place. This fence really made the place look good.

This location is toward the back west corner of the lot where we had our state of the art out house. It was a two holer with a vent and a petition in between the holes. Looks like this was a good place for the
This area of the back yard held about 200 chickens. We called them fryers. We would raise them from little babes to about half grown and then in the spring we had a time for chicken harvest. We would put all that meat in the freezer at the locker plant. Then in January we would kill a hog that we had been raising. That had to be the coldest day of January so the meat would remain cold while we butchered it. Then we ate pork all winter and started raising chickens again for spring meat.

The house was left to me by my mom and I sold it to this lady in the picture 23 years ago. I stopped in front of the house and she and her husband were standing in front visiting with her daughter. They were celebrating her 50Th birthday. She was really excited that I stopped to see her and look at the house. I told her it looked better than it did when I was there and I thanked her for taking care of it.

The front view. It is not very big. When it was built in 1945 it seemed big at the time. My dad and brother did a great job of building it .
What a great memory. 65 years ago. Have a great day.
