Easter 2011

ONCE AGAIN THE OLD WAGON WAS ROLLED OUT TO HELP CELEBRATE THE NEW COVENANT THAT GOD SENT HIS SON TO ESTABLISH FOR ALL PEOPLE. WHOSOEVER BELIEVES THAT JESUS IS THE CHRIST AND THAT HE ROSE FROM THE GRAVE AND LIVES WITH THE FATHER WILL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE WITH HIM.

A LARGE NUMBER OF PEOPLE CAME TO WORSHIP AND REMEMBER THE DEATH ON A CROSS FOR OUR SINS.

A BEAUTIFUL CLOUDY COOL MORNING IT WAS.

THE MILLERSVIEW BAPTIST CHURCH STRING BAND PLAYED MUSIC FOR THE SINGING OF HYMNS AND SPECIAL MUSIC THAT WAS PERFORMED.

DR. ROSS DUTTON BROUGHT A GREAT INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE FOR ALL TO HEAR.

PEOPLE FOUND SEATS WHERE THEY COULD SO THEY COULD TAKE IN ALL OF THE SERVICE OF THE SUNRISE.

WORSHIPPERS OF ALL AGES WERE PRESENT AND HAD A GREAT TIME OF BEING OUTDOORS.

A SHARING OF THE BOUNTY OF EASTER EGGS WERE ENJOYED BY SOME OF THE LITTLE ONES WHO BROUGHT THEIR BASKETS.

VISITING CONTINUED LONG AFTER THE SERVICE AND THE EATING WAS OVER. THANK YOU JESUS FOR A GREAT DAY AND THE REASON FOR THE SEASON.

REMEMBER TO GIVE THANKS EACH AND EVERY DAY FOR ALL THE BLESSINGS WE HAVE.

March Birthdays

Welcome to Millersview Baptist Church. It was the first Sunday in March and we had cake and coffee to celebrate March Birthdays. We always have a great welcoming committee at the front door because you know you are welcome when you arrive.

We have a beautiful church that is 98 years old. The original floor is there as well as the walls. We did replace the roof with metal this past fall. The pews are replacements from Oklahoma. The important parts of our church are the people and they make it work. We have a lot of fun in our worship. We truly worship with JOY FILLED HEARTS.

Big Bubba and his wife Debbie, who is eating cake, will soon go on Walks to Emmaus. Big Bubba is the one in the background against the wall. He is one big man with a big heart for God.

We enjoy 40 to 55 every Sunday that come and worship and give praise and thanks to God for the many blessings He has given to us.

More of our Church and the Body of Christ enjoying the coffee and cake before we start our service.

We are just about ready to start. What a great day the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Our Deacon who starts our service Sunday is ready to go.

These are our March Birthday people. As you can see, there is a wide range of dates and ages. All are sweet lovable people with big smiles and happy to be another year older.

A real treat. Our 98 year old singing the song "A Beautiful Life". First time since we started the church 11 years ago that she decided to sing for us. It was a great day.

Come see us at Millersview Baptist Church sometime for a fun filled day and a Joy filled worship service.

Good Advice

Someone has written these beautiful words. one must read and try to understand the deep meaning in them. They are like the Ten Commandments to follow in life all the time.

1. Prayer is not a "spare wheel" that you pull out when in trouble; it is a "steering wheel" that directs us in the right path throughout life.

2. Do you why a car's WINDSHIELD is so large & the rear view mirror is so small? Because our PAST is not as important as the FUTURE. So look ahead and move on.

3. Friendship is like a BOOK. It takes a few seconds to burn, but it takes years to write.

4. All things are temporary. If going well enjoy it, they will not last forever. If going wrong, don't worry, in the overall scheme of things, don't worry. They can't last long either.

5. Old friends are like Gold! New friends are Diamonds! If you get a Diamond, don't forget the Gold! Because to hold the Diamond you need a base of Gold.

6. Often when we lose hope and think this the end, God smiles from above and says " Relax it's just a bend and not the end."

7.When God solves your problems, you have faith in His abilities;When God doesn't solve your problems He has faith in your abilities to work things out.

8. A blind person asked St. Anthony: "Can there be anything worse than losing eye sight?" He replied: "Yes, losing your vision."

9. When you pray for others , God listens to you and blesses them; and sometimes, when you are safe and happy, remember that someone has prayed for you. Be thankful.

10. WORRYING does not take away tomorrow's TROUBLES ; it takes away today's PEACE.

Prayers are Answered

I ASKED FOR STRENGTH AND GOD GAVE ME DIFFICULTIES TO MAKE ME STRONG.

I ASKED FOR WISDOM AND GOD GAVE ME PROBLEMS TO SOLVE.

I ASKED FOR PROSPERITY AND GOD GAVE ME BRAWN AND BRAINS TO WORK.

I ASKED FOR COURAGE AND GOD GAVE ME DANGERS TO OVERCOME.

I ASKED FOR PATIENCE AND GOD PLACED ME IN SITUATIONS WHERE I WAS FORCED TO WAIT.

I ASKED FOR LOVE AND GOD GAVE ME TROUBLED PEOPLE TO HELP.

I ASKED FOR FAVORS AND GOD GAVE ME OPPORTUNITIES.

I RECEIVED NOTHING I WANTED BUT I RECEIVED EVERYTHING I NEEDED.

MY PRAYERS HAVE ALL BEEN ANSWERED.

ICE FISHING IN TEXAS

My fishing partner scouts out possible fire wood from the fallen pecan trees that used to flourish along the Concho River.

Our trustee little lone star boat is well covered with ice from the previous three nights of frozen precipitation. It is ready to go and retrieve the waiting catfish from the line. Actually we have already taken off a 5 pound channel cat before we took the pictures. We had to move fast before the wind got up because that would have made the mission of fish removal from the line impossible.

Notice the ice just out from the shore. The little ice deposits formed at the bottom of the trees as the waves from the water would wash up on the trees and then freeze.

There was about eight inches of water frozen in the back of the boat from the rain we got before we got the frozen stuff. This is a great boat even if it is about 60 years old.

Are you seeing double again? Sometimes COLD PICTURES WILL MAKE YOU DO THAT. Can't you just imagine seining for bait and having to take the deep end of the seine? I always had to take the deep end of the seine.

NOTICE THE LITTLE ICE DEPOSITS AT THE BASE OF THE TREES.

In just three weeks this area will be covered with crappie. They will start their migration up the river to spawn.

February 18 will be the next full moon. That usually marks the time of migration for most game fish to move up to shallow water to make more fish for next year.

SHOULD IT BE IN GOD'S WILL TO GET BIG RAINS AND REPLENISH THE LAKE LEVELS, THEN THESE PICTURES AND OTHERS I WILL TAKE WILL HELP ME TO REMEMBER THE LAY OUT OF THE BRUSH AND KNOW WHAT THE BOTTOM LOOKS LIKE AND KNOW WHERE THE FISH HIDE.

HERE IS MY OLD RELIABLE CRAPPIE BOAT. I CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO COUNT THE NUMBER OF CRAPPIE I HAVE CAUGHT FROM THIS BOAT. GOD HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO PROVIDE A PLACE TO LIVE, A PLACE TO FISH, A PLACE TO ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS AND PEOPLE TO SHARE ALL THIS WITH.

Winter Showed Up

Tuesday February 1 kicked off winter for us here at Lake Ivie. Monday it got all the way to 8o degrees. The weather people said that we were in for a real change but how many times do they get it right? Well, check one for the weather people! 2 to 3 inches of snow and some rain sleet and ice arrived the next day. Here it is Thursday and we've still got it. I am spoiled. I really can't see how the people up north handle it. Look out Dallas and all around the metroplex, here comes the snow. Texas will increase in population after the winter they had up in the Midwest and Northeast.

It is really pretty for a change. We do need the moisture for sure. It was cold for the period that we had snow. I guess it is not over yet. 12 degrees and windchill of 9 to 10 below zero is a bit much.

I really missed the activity of making a snowman but it was just too cold to get out.

It was so cold it made you see double at times.

It was so cold the deer lost their appetite for a while.

Anyone for ICE BASKETBALL. Hurry spring. Enjoy everyday. Even in the cold and snow you can see the hand of the Lord in the beauty of the outdoors. This is the day the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

2011, and Still Going

I said I did not think I would write again but the start of 2011 has been the beginning of a good year so I just had to share with everyone. Carol and I are going to do some things in 2011 that we have always wanted to do and we are going to enjoy 2011 day by day. As you can see we are prepared to fish a little more this year than last. Carol put on her traveling clothes for moving fast across the water on a cold morning

And that is exactly what we did down south at Lake Falcon. The early morning was very cool moving across the lake at a high speed. The results were good. This was my first fish of the day. An eight pound bass. As you can see I was protected from the weather too.WOW! IT WAS FUN!

On the way , we past the HEB foundation and we had to stop and look at this pretty country. Carol and I have worked at camps in this area at one time or another. The River is so pretty and clear.

The view is awesome. Some day we may get another chance to work there in the summer time.

Our guide Robert and his wife. They own Robert's Fish and Tackle in Zapata, Texas. Very nice people. Robert worked very hard to put us in a position to catch fish. After the early morning fishing the wind got up to 25-30 mph and made it impossible to go out on the big part of the lake. He took care of us and did his best to show us a good time and a safe time. Thanks Robert.

South Texas has lots of cactus so you might find it growing any where. This was growing on the side of a bridge that we were fishing under. Just after Carol took this picture a man in a small boat tried to cross a part of the lake in a smaller boat into the wind and high waves and Carol noticed that his boat was getting smaller and smaller. Soon the boat was gone and the man was in the water. Robert cranked up his big boat and we had him out of the water in no time and on the shore with his friend wrapped up in dry clothes. Glad we were where we could help.

Carol caught some very big crappie. She and Robert got in on the action under that same bridge. The crappie were 2 pounds plus.

This was a great trip. Even though the weather turned bad for us and we did not catch many fish we had some great experiences. We look forward to some new experiences in 2011. I was really proud of Carol because of her fishing the whole time we were on the water and not taking time out to read a book. There will be fun things to share in 2011.
