Carol and I spent our 40th anniversary at South Padre Island . It is truly one of the most fantastic places in Texas. We walked on the beach , we fished with one of the best guides that the Texas cost has to offer, caught fish, ate fish saw the movie "We Bought a Zoo" and went "Birding". December is not a spectacular time to see a lot of different birds ,but it was a good start for us.

The birds we saw were awesome . Their feathers and their colors were reallysomething to see. The wetland area that has been created for the birds also attracts other birds that are not wetland birds during their migration south during the winter and back again during the spring.

Most all the birds we saw were homebodies and they nest here in the wetlands .

This fellow was out for a sunbath. We were told that he makes trips across the bay to a wildlife refuge to continue the species and then returns across the bay back to his home here in the wetland.

Sea Turtles are very big and interesting. The Gulf Of Mexico is home to a large population of sea turtles. Once they were on the endangered species list but dew to the hard work of many volunteers , the turtles are making a comeback.

This is my favorite picture of South Padre Island. The sun rise is the best part. I think of this picture often . On the beach and while on the water in a boat fishing or on the way out to fish. It reminds me that God has shed his grace on me by giving me another day to serve him.

Carol loves the birds and she always takes something to the beach to feed the birds.

Now we are home and this is how we begin a new year. With our friends at Millersview Baptist Church. This group is our January Birthday Group. HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY CAROL. 40 YEARS.

HAVE A GREAT DAY AND REMEMBER TO GIVE GOD THANKS FOR THE MANY BLESSINGS OF 2011 AND GO AHEAD AND GIVE HIM THANKS FOR THE BLESSINGS FOR 2012.

December 2011

Christmas was really special this year. We were able to help Cannon decorate his ginger bread house at his school

Granny Carol helped Cannon and one of his classmates with her house too.

Cannon has lots of fun with his school work and he enjoys his classmates as well.

We also got to watch one of Cannon's basketball games. He is so blessed to have a great facility to play in. They were having 9 basketball games at one time in the building we were in.

When we got back home and found some of the critters that live around us had come for a visit.

We finished our year at our church with December Birthdays. It has been a great year at Millersview Baptist Church. We have been so blessed. Looking forward to another great year of Worship and Praising our Lord.

We still have our deer but we did suffer, as a lot of folks did, with a big deer fawn die off this past summer and fall. God's way of thinning the herd I suppose. Looking forward to a great New Year in 2012. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR MORE OFTEN.

HAVE A GREAT DAY AND HAVE A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Great Week and Weekend

What a great week Carol and I have just finished. We had our last Kairos meeting to prepare for Kairos 16 in the Price Daniels Unit in Snyder, Texas. We also had our next to last meeting for Walk 1637 . What a great team that God has put together.

The Texas Longhorns are starting to look like the old teams of the past. It could be that the McCoy and Shipley team has returned to the field. Although a younger set they are not any less in their ability to play with the big boys.

Also the Dallas Cowboys came back from a dismal first half to beat a good Forty Niner football team. I was really happy for Tony Romo. He didn't have to return to the game but in his mind he knew he had to and I am glad he did. HOW BOUT THEM COWBOYS?

LAST AND I KNOW THE BEST IS THAT CANNON FINISHED HIS SECOND WEEK AS A FLAG FOOTBALLER AND HE HAS PERFORMED BRILLIANTLY.CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HIM PLAY NEXT WEEK. THANK YOU LORD FOR THIS WEEK. MAY WE CONTINUE TO PRAISE YOU AND GLORIFY YOU IN ALL WE DO.

OH YES AND THANK YOU FOR THE RAIN WE GOT. WE ASK FOR MORE.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK!

Alaska

Alaska folks have planes instead of boats. If you want to go anywhere you have an air plane.

We are on our way to getting on one of these planes for a trip across country. We will talk about this in our next message.

The animals are the attraction in Alaska along with the mountains and glaciers. All of the rivers are made by the glaciers. This grizzly was pretty close to us.

This female reindeer was a little different than I had imagined.

Cute Little squirrel.

Baby Moose.

Beautiful scenery...

MORE TO FOLLOW.

New Possibilities

Howdy Folks.

It is time to get back to writing again about those Endless Possibilities. There are some new possibilities now on the horizon and I want to share them with you.

We took a trip to Alaska and had a great time. Then we started a youth program at our church in Millersview. We had our first meeting today.

We will have four Baptisms and Communion on the 28th of this month and a fish fry.

Candie will have a birthday on the 29th of this month.

Cannon has started flag football.

We have had meetings to prepare for Kairos and we will start meetings to prepare for a ladies walk to Emmaus.

The NFL has started preseason games and Colt McCoy was great in his debut as the starting QB for the Browns.

It is going to be an exciting fall writing about all the activities.

Have a great day today and stay tuned to this blog for further comments.

Family Fish Fry

SISTER IN LAW JANE WAS THE FIRST TO GO THROUGH THE LINE TO EAT SOME FRESH YELLOW CAT FISH AND CRAPPIE. BROTHER DOUG WAS HER HUSBAND WHO PASSED AWAY ABOUT 20 PLUS YEARS AGO.

JERRY, DON AND EWELL(LEFT TO RIGHT) ARE THE THREE REMAINING SESSOM BROTHERS. THIS WAS PROBABLY 10 YEARS OR SO SINCE WE SET DOWN TO EAT FISH TOGETHER.

THIS MEAL HAD BEEN TALKED ABOUT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS OR SO. WE WERE ALL EXCITED TO SEE THE FISH IN THE SERVING PLATE AND WE WERE ALL GOING TO SET DOWN AND EAT TOGETHER AGAIN.

WE DECIDED THAT WE WOULD NOT WAIT SO LONG NEXT TIME TO ENJOY FISH AND ANOTHER GET TOGETHER. JERRY'S WIFE NORMA ENJOYS FISH AS WELL. SHE ALSO BROUGHT SOME REAL GOOD BAKED BEANS.

IT WAS REALLY GREAT TO SEE EWELL AND JERRY AND JANE ENJOYING THE FISH THAT CAROL AND I CAUGHT AT LAKE IVIE AT OUT HOME ON THE LAKE. EWELL'S WIFE CECELIA ENJOYED THE FISH TOO.

MY PARTNER IN LIFE AND FISHING BUDDY. WE ENJOY FISH AS OFTEN AS WE CAN.

THANK YOU LORD FOR THE BLESSING OF BEING ABLE TO LIVE IN AN AREA WHERE WE CAN ENJOY THE GREAT OUTDOORS AND ENJOY THE BOUNTY OF FISH THAT YOU PROVIDE FOR US TO CATCH AND PROVIDE FOR ALL WE COOK FOR. THANK YOU LORD.
